two years ago during spring season, i shot a 22 pound tom with a 9 inch beard and 1 inch spurs. after i shot it i went to check it out, and my buddy asked me over the radio how big the beard was. well, i went to flip the bird over to check out it's beard. thought the bird was dead. when i grabbed it, he jumped up and spurred my pants. ripped a nice hole in my pants and barely got my leg. now i shot this turkey at about 15 yards, even though it was just a 20 gauge, i did some pretty significant damage to the birds head. but he was still alive and after he spurred me, he started running again. i reloaded my shotgun and put the shot on the back of his head. lets just say those were the last steps he ever took.. after the second shot my buddy called me on the radio to see why the hell i shot again. he didn't beleive me until he saw the pants ripped and a nice scratch on my leg.
we laugh about it now, but to tell ya the truth, it scared me to death
Have fun huntin while you can, pretty soon you'll be too damn old to enjoy anything

I sprayed a rooster with a water hose one time (last time too) and he flew up and stuck me real good in the shin. I thought someone hit me with a baseball bat it hurt so bad. And that was a little chicken! You can bet I'm careful with those toms now!
