I never thought about getting a Benneli because of the price, but a friend of mine has a Bennelli pump and he said he paid less than $400 for it. I am not sure what model it is. I would like to get a gun that shoots 3"1/2. I have an 870 Remington that shoots 3" and love it. Would any of you recommend the Bennili pump over the Remington 870?

I've never owned a Benelli, so I dont know anything about their product/s. But in your post you said you have an 870 and love it. Why get something else if you already have a great gun, and a gun that you love. I would go with the 870, just for the simple fact you already have one, know about them, and like the guns.

If you are thinking about shooting 3 1/2" shells out of the Nova make sure you have shoot your buddies before buying one. I have been told that they kick more than the Moss. 835 and even I don't want to take that kind of punishment.
Also, make sure that the 870 super magnum fits you well before buying one. My buddy has one and it doesn't fit him well and he had some problems shooting it before he figured out what was wrong.
You are all right! All of my guns are Remingtons and I am pleased with all of them. I have expressed in other post how pleased I am with my 870, so I guess I should keep that in mind. Now, that I think about it, his gun didn't feel as good as mine while holding it. I don't absolutely have to have a 3 1/2".........maybe I just need an excuse to get another gun. (Don't we all) I'm sure the Remington pump would give the Benneli pump a run for it's money. Thanks for your advice and if you have more to add, please do so.

I think you made a very wise decision. I ALMOST and I really stress the almost, bought a Benelli Nova, but quite a few people on these forums talked me out of it. I really wanted a 3 1/2" chambered gun because I do a lot of waterfowl hunting. I ended up buying a Browning BPS 12ga, 3" which was actually more than the Nova, and haven't regretted it yet. I've hunted ducks with the gun a couple of times so far and 3" #2s are more than enough to take down any duck.
i HAVE A BENELLI NOVA 3 1/2" AND IT HAS A LITTLE PROBLEM WITH THE SLIDE. WHEN YOU TRY TO SHOOT RAPIDLY THE SLIDE GETS STUCK IN THE FORWARD POSITION, AND YOU HAVE TO NUDGE IT FORWARD ABOUT A QUARTER INCH, BEFORE YOU CAN PUMP IT BACK TO UNLOAD THE SPENT SHELL. HAPPENS ABOUT 30% OF THE TIME. WISH I WOULD'VE GOTTEN A REMINGTON, BUT THE ONLY PUMP, WITH A 18" BARRELL IN 3 1/2" WAS THE NOVA (NON -RIFLED) "SLUG" GUN, AT THE LOCAL STORE.

My self and about 7 friend have Novas and not one of them has had a single problem. I am on forums a lot and this is the first time I have ever heard of any poblem. I would send that shotgun back to benelli. I have had mine for a few years now and I only shoot 3.5" shells for geese most of which are 1 3/4oz Hevi shot at 1300 fps and 2oz Kent Impact at 1260 fps. I also shoot 3" and some 2 3/4" and mine has never let me down. I love mine.

I think that Benelli makes some of the best semi-autos out there. That being said I would never buy a Nova. I think that they (nova) are chunky and the slides rattle to much. My 3 ½ 870 is rock solid and has never let me down.

I bought my Remington 870 Express Super Magnum Synthetic because it was the most affordable pump gun the gunshop had. They didn't have any Benneli guns at the time, so I don't know what they are like, as I still have never seen on except in the gun magazines. I have never regretted the purchase of the 870, as the gun has never once let me down over the years. But somewhere deep inside where it's dark and foggy, I long for a Winchester Super X2 semi-auto.
Our rights are like our muscles: Failure to exercise them will cause them to atrophy.
Your three incher will get the job done.I personnaly do not like the Nova that is just me.If you want a 3 1/2" chambered Remington. Here are a camo version and a black version Of remington express guns. But if you can afford go with the SPS-T models.
Here is one Remington Super Magnum 3 1/2" SPS-T Camo's

The Nova has more features than the 870, and the forend rattle can be reduced by probably 90% by tightening the two allen screws on the forend. Because the Nova has a one piece glass reinforced stock and reciever it will not rust, It is probably the most rust resistant gun you can get, thats important when you spend a lot of time waterfowl hunting. It also has a rotating locking lug bolt and magazine disconect that comes in handy. It can be field stripped with out any tools very easily. I don't regret getting mine and it is about to take its 4th year of punishment.

All I can say is Benneli!!!!!!!!!! I have Remington's and Bennelis and the Benneli is hands down better I have never heard the argument that a Remington is better than a Benneli. Ouch Ouch that thought hurts.
I cant type the many features of the Benneli vs the Remington tonight but no no not even close the Benneli hands down all day long is a finer weapon........
Check the picture below I have 4 rounds in the air and the 5th chanbering..
I believe the original post was refering to the Nova pump versus the 870 , rather than the semi autos , there I would have to agree with you . But after owning two different Nova's I'll take my 870 Wingmaster anyday .
