I agree w/ MichaelD , I have a 20" ss Bbl varmint upper that I use on occation for popping varmints, they are sub m.o.a. but dang it's heavy ( 1" Bbl., scope, mount,bi pod). If your where you can get into a town & hunker down for a spell, they are great.
BTW, if your going this route I'd suggest some 20 rnd or less mags, they don't hang down as far, the 30's will hang up on the ground.
MOLON LABE ! '01 TJ 3" BDS lift, front disko's & RE frnt. trac bar. 4.10's & front & rear lockers on floor awaiting more $$$ flow.
The AR-15 is my specialty and absolutely legal! I have one of each from 16 inch to 24 inch barrel. They are formidable varmint weapons and I have laid down everything with a AR-15 from a varmint to a Elk Cow.
.223 Rem , 6.8SPC, 308 Win are the most common calibers that I see on the range ,but there are other calibers available . Mine are both chambered in the 223. Wythe by RRA . If you are interested in one I would get it before the coming election myself .
My first AR was a complete weapon but my second was a parts gun that I put together myself and saved a few bucks . It's just kind of up to each individual whether or not to buy new or used . On this type rifle I would prefer a new weapon myself .
Best place to buy would be a hard question to answer . I order mine and do a transfer through a dealer friend myself .

will a dpms lower match up to an olympic arms upper? i have heard that the ar 15 is really easy to customize but i am still trying to figure this out. what is the best way to go? should i just save and buy the exact gun i want or should i try to piece together 2 different rifles? somebody please shed some light on this for me...
The last time the Democrats were in the Whitehouse we had the assualt weapons ban . I seriously believe they will try to get it back again .
Yes the Olympic upper will fit the DMPS lower or any other make out there far as that goes . I have two different uppers for one of my AR's . both a Rock River varminter and a CAR A4 that I bought used .The varminter is a 24" heavy weight barrel and the A4 is a 16" light weight barrel ,best of both worlds in my opinion . The headspacing is in the upper so all you have to do to fit them together is pull two pins and remove and replace .
That sounds like a good price to me ,but you really need to figure exactly what features it does have and what you plan to use it for , not just the fact that it is a AR. Type of butt stock ,type of barrel (What material it is made of ),twist of barrel just to name a few things . I jumped in blind my first time ,I don't reccomend it . Mike

the rifle i am looking at is the dpms panther lo-pro classic in .223 i figured it was a good deal with the gun being a dpms but i guess even good brands make a cheaper rifle. i saw another, i think it was an olympic or atlantic arms that was more but did not have the FA so i read more on it and some people like them and some do not. i personally would rather have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. mainly i want the gun for varmint shooting but i would like to get a second upper for a home defense type rifle. i have to save for all this so i have plenty of time to figure stuff out. my wife thinks it is a waste of money and time.
