Just curious, how well does your muzzleloader gun group at 100 yards?? Be honest now. BS helps no one.
I have an old TC Renegade rifle with a 3x9 scope and shoot 100 grs of Goex FF black powder, Hornady 240 grn XTP/HP sabot, and #11 cap. Off a bench rest at the range this combination will shoot 4 inch groups at 100 yards. I can reduce the powder load and get progressively better grouping. 4 inch groups is acceptable and it has lots of horsepower for great terminal peformance.
Ususally right around an inch if I do my part right. Before my last range session, my best was 5/8". During my last range session I shot a 1/4" group. I think it's a freak accident though. Either that or the darndest case a luck I ever saw. I'm gonna get it scanned the next time I get to a scanner.
Oops, forgot to list the load. 260 gr Winchester Platinum tips and 100 gr of T7 loose out of a Knight Disc Extreme 50 cal.

Happiness: White smoke, flying lead, and a whitetail downrange.
Dave I shoot all year at least once a week at the range and sometimes 2or 3 times a week.No all the encore aren't that good I have one in a 45 cal.and been trying to find a good bullet and load that will group constantly for 2 years now and I haven't found anything that it will shoot.I have a ruger 77/50 and I think it is the most over looked muzzleloader.Have had it for I think 10 yrs or longer,I don't shoot it much anymore because I am playing with the 45 encore and a new savage. But after I worked on the trigger on it it is a very well made an accurate muzzleloader,I haven't used it for 2 yrs now ,let a buddy use it last year to hunt with ,he didn't see a deer to shoot at but I put up a 50 yd target for him to unload it on and he hit it dead center. It stays on year after year. On the encore I have I did a trigger job,put in an over sized hing pin,and free floated the barrel as best as I could.

i have a cva optima 45cal and i am shooting powerbelt aero tips that are 200gr. at 100yrd i am shooting 3 shots that are just under one inch groups . the scope i have on it is a bushnell 3x9 i have it set on 9 to sry fire(with just the 209 primer) i do that just so i dont flinch when i am sighting in then i drop the power of the scop down to 6 to shoot a regular load that way i am holding it more stable on the shot becouse i am not that good of a shot so i basicly trick my mind into shooting good. at least thats what i think any way lol . bow
Now both my Hawkins 50 & 54 calibers will shoot under 2.5 inches from a rest at 100 yards, using the original iron sights.
My custom made Kentucky long rifle in a 45 cal. has and will shoot under an inch at 100 yards and that was standing postion with iron sights. I did not do the shooting that particular time, but the rifle took 1st and 3rd place that day out of some 60 shooters. Twist is 1 in 66, loaded up with 75 grains of black powder.
At 235 yards my Knight Bk-92, with 2 pyro pellets, 209 primer, 4X Leupold and 300 gr Barnes Expander grouped 4 inches. I was sighted in at 100 yards (usually a 1.5" to 2" group) and had to go up 34 inches on the scope to zero at 235 yards. I did not think this was possible but results today were very promising. I plan to hunt this distance for whitetails.
I have a CVA Magbolt 50 caliber with 4x fixed scope. It will put 3 shots into 1"-2" at 100 yards at 150 it will place them inside 3" .This is not as good as alot of guns but it took me awhile to get this gun to shoot at all. When I boughjt it last year it would group about 5"-6" at a 100 yards and sometimes not that good.I floated the barrel, bedded the action and groups really shrunk.I shoot 90 grains of 777under 300 cast bullet that I resized from a .458 to .452. with a harvester sabot.
