Imagine you are a hard working Ford employee, now that our beloved President has got us into the car business, your tax dollars are now going to fund your competition! For every dollar you earn, your competition gets more money to compete with you and possibly eliminate you from the marketplace. How is this fair?
Ford's CEO should sue the government for unfair practices in the automobile industry as Ford's profits should not be used to supplement the incompetence of their competition.

I really wish that G.M would have just been allowed to go under. I was afraid that Obama would pull stuff like this, and I was right. Japanese car companies will still be making better cars at a better price, despite the government assistance that GM is getting. This is another action that is simply kicking the can down the road, and wasting the taxpayer's money, pulling us deeper into debt.
This is a big mistake for the Obama administration. You folks have heard me bitch about the Iraq war with Bush. In the absence of something worse happening, this will be my main bode of contention with Obama. A government such as ours should, under no circumstances, be meddling with private industry. They should be allowed to succeed and fail based upon the actions of consumers, not elected officials.
I fear that this is the start of the government getting its hands into business. It has been said that the government is wanting to sell it's shares quickly, and they may, in fact, do so. This, however, sets a precedent of the United States government as a business owner, and I do not like where that could head. My argument against the Patriot Act and this action is the same. While this new power is not abused right now, the potential for abuse will remain long after Obama leaves office. And that bothers me.
