A friend of mine fries squirrel all the time. My opinion is that it is best if you could de bone the squirrels before you cook them, but either way is fine.
Now my mom cooks squirrels by putting them in a roaster or dutch oven and putting some water and some cooking oil and a onion or two in the container and some salt and pepper to taste and let it cook for about an hour. By that time, the meat might fall off the bone - but usually rabbits and squirrels are usually a little bit on the tough side, but in my opinion - is better then chicken or pheasant. You could probably buy a dutch oven in most hardware, sporting goods stores or even Walmart if you look hard enough.

Didn't know there was another way to cook squirrel. I grew up on chicken fried squirrel. I would agree that if you could take the meat off the bone first it would be handy to eat, but My mom always fried them whole. Just flour and fry like chicken season with salt and pepper or shake and bake breading.
