Are you sure about that ratio. A 1 to 1 ratio is ideal, with a 2(does) to one(bucks) acceptable. That is hard to reach. Most areas have way more does than bucks. If that is the correct ratio, you are a lucky person. I would not be working on thinning out the bucks. Just use all your tags like normal. Shoot the fully mature bucks. Leave the young ones be. Let them grow to 5 1/2 or 6 1/2 when they are at the peak of antler growth. There is no point in shooting the young bucks unless they show inferior antler growth. I'm no biologist, but I've never heard of thinning out bucks. I would just enjoy the situation at hand if I were you.

i know this is technically stealing your thread so i apologize in advance... i have rights to hunt this 250 acre tract of land each year... have had it forever, but anyways i have been seeing in the range of 10-20 does each good day of hunting and NO bucks... yesterday was the first one we had seen all year... we thought it was an 8 point, small one, but it turned out to be a brow tineless 5... shew i hate that... but any ways do you guys recommend
