Well my deer season was over before I found your forum, but I finished with a 5 pt and a button buck.
Looking forward to my April Hoghunt in Texas!!!!
Arrows are being fletched as we speak!
Have to order more Snuffers, I probably have enough that I could resharpen, but there's nothing like a brand new dozen balanced and sharpened!
Been having a hard time getting replacement spools for my string tracker.
We hunt our hogs at night, so string trackers can give a real good starting point for your blood trail as 30 or 40 hogs leaving at the sound of one of thier own being smacked with a snuffer causes major chaos!!!!
I passed through a sow one year and hit another pig a few yards behind her, and if not for the string tracker I wouldn't have known..
I beleived my intended target was on the oppisite side of the "senderarro" from me, dead..
Got out of my ground blind and found string going behind me and blood. Besides string and blood going across from me.
Turns out the sow I was aiming for went behind me(where I would have never looked) but she had string going through her, hence one string trail
The other pig took my arrow and string the other way, found semi decent looking blood, but never the pig. I would have never looked behind me for my pig.
I ordered replacement spools for the game trackers today.
I also ordered some drip tubes and sow in heat .
My buddy ordered some Hog Draw, and new skinning gambrels, and they came in.
Have to pick up my arrows tomorrow.
I can start mounting those snuffers , and getting them tuned the way I like!!!!!
Shot my bow today, had the day off, first day off in awhile.
I haven't included this anywheres, but I hurt my shoulder at work about a month ago, and could hardly draw my bow back(great timing) I had to back her down and I've been shooting alot less arrows each practice session. Today it felt great though, I was nervous about what I could have done to it, I'm hoping it is getting better, I have been very nervous, to the point of thinking I would have to hunt with a pistol or some other alternative next month in Texas. Felt alot better today though. I was surprised when I put the bow on my scale when it happened and I had been shooting 68lbs. I had turned it up a couple of half turns during deer season, but I didn't realise I was almost up to 70. Back down to 55 right now, like I said it felt good, 60 is usually a comfortable zone for me, we'll see what happens this week.
