rode right by a huge cottonmouth on my atv and did not see him until he raised up and opened the mouth.my .17hmr took care of him.should have taken a pic.saw some big gobblers at my fishing hole.caught one cat.
this pic does not give justice to the size, but it is at least 6-7# and i thought i had a new world record crappie until i got it close enough to the bank to see it was a drum.the world record white crappie is a little over 5# and was caught here in mississippi many years ago[50s] by fred bright.
well, i am trying to get rid of heart worms for my little buddy.he was left behind by his owner when they moved because he was sick.it will be tricky for about a month and he has a chance, i hope.i gave him too much of the drug Thursday and he was lifeless for over 24 hours.i thought i was going to lose him.i will not give him anymore until Monday when i am home.the vet told me to give him a small dose every 2-3 days and that should eliminate them gradually and reduce the risk of over exertion while the worms are dieing and moving from the heart.
i guess i am losing the fight.came home last night and let the dog inside.he had not eaten anything all day.i could not get him to eat or drink.he is getting weak and i don't know what i can do .going to leave him in the den at noon when i go to work and hope food and water will be gone when i get home.i can't believe that drug would still be affecting him after 3 days unless it killed some of the worms and they are plugging up the plumbing.
well,it has been a week since i gave the first dose to jack.i have been watching his actions and am afraid to give him anymore.he is not eating or drinking much, but is staying indoors day and night.he seems to draw up hard as a rock at times and will cry if you pick him up.he jumps and twitches as if having muscle spasms and i don't know if that is from the worms moving or from discomfort from food in his stomach causing breathing to be more difficult.if he starts looking like he is better,i will give him such a small dose he should hardly know it.i may have given him enough to have killed the adults and they be trying to pass through the artery,i just don't know.
today, is 7 days since the first dose.i probably gave him a dose for over a 100# dog and he might weight 10#.he seemed perky today and was eating and drinking water.he follows me around and does not want me out of his sight.one of my grandsons spent the night, and i took him to the dentist this am,and he said they had used the same drug on their dogs and it made them sick also.i gave hum another dose but it was hardly a drop.i am going to give him a small drop every two days for three weeks and see if that does the trick.i have to believe i killed most of the problem with that first dose.we will see.thanks for asking.
well,it has been 16 days now and i am giving him a good dose almost like the first one every three days.according to the increments on the applicator,i have given him enough for a 250# animal[that is four doses].that is an average of about 60-70 cc per time.it is assumed you give 10cc per 10# of weight i think.he still shows the symptoms of the worms with slight coughs from time to time ,irregular heartbeats and breathing and has that washed out feeling off and on. this could be the worms moving out of the heart area,i don't know.he is staying inside all the time except for a few minutes a day to make his rounds in the yard.i am going to keep giving him the drug for another 2-3 weeks then once a month and see what happens.
