Went out to my secret hunting area today and scouted the area. There's a big blackie everyone named Blacktail Bubba. He is a huge 4x4 (not including eye gaurds) with at least a 32 spread. He's been spotted around the area for two years now and many hunters have been trying to track him down. but since last season the buck was gone. people thought he's been shot. Zang Her, a hmong gentlemen, took a huge buck in the area and was said to be blacktail bubba. But i saw bubba today. Taking the escape route to the thick brushes at last daylight. I know it's him because he has a kicker on g3. Going early tomorrow again to scout him out. he's always alone and never with another buck.

i just got back from scouting again. i didn't bring a camera, but tomorrow i'm going to hook up the game finder near it's route. I know how this deer moves now. He gets up right when you can start to see clearly and come from a route going uphill to a rarely used water hole and quickly feed on the acorns. Then he dashes out back to the thick manzinitas. Then at about 1 hour til sunset, he uses another route that comes up and cut to the left around the feeding area. When he comes, it's only about 20 minutes of feeding. This buck is real tough. I wish i have gotten the archery season, i hope no one finds him. Today, i saw him for just about 10 minutes and that was it.
Stay on him, even if it means until next year. I hope you get a tag, and then get to adorn his rack with it! Oh yeah, "Watch yer 6" while out scouting. You don't want to lead anyone to him!! Good luck.

after work today i went out to check him out today. I didn't see him on the spot where i have been seeing him. But i saw him down at the valley crevaces with two othe small forkies feeding on the berries. Then at sunset he came back to the thick brushes and bedded. The good news is that i think i found out where he is bedded. Right under a green fur, there's two really thick manzanita that he covers under, with three escape routes. If i get on the other side, i could get a good 325 yard shot at him. I'm going to check if he beds there tomorrow.

Well i went down to Jones Fort today and some of the locals said that Bubba is bigger than the last two years. they said his kicker is longer too. That bucks range area is about 30 miles diameter of that specific zone. He's here there, and next season GONE! I only saw him once two years ago when i went turkey hunting.
They have these little cameras you can mount on your baseball cap (if in fact you wear one while hunting). It's called Lid Cam. You might consider adding it to your hunting gear. It's not very expensive and it might help you take some footage of this mythical monster.
