Dragon Naturally Speaking works pretty well, but it will cost you. If I were you and wanted to keep cost down, just use Microsoft speech recognition. Most people don't even know they have it. I know that it is incorporated into Windows 2000 and XP...........I don't remember about earlier versions of windows.
If you don't know how to set it up, go to start, settings, control panel, speech. You can create a new profile or use the default and train it. To enable speech recognition go to start settings, control panel, regional and language options, languages tab, click details, go to the advanced tab, uncheck turn off advanced text services, check extend support. That should put the language bar (if its not already there) on the taskbar.
Speech recognition is not perfect, and there is not an application out there that is going to work exactly like you want it to.................yet. In the meantime, the KEY to getting speech recognition as accurate as possible to to train the engine as much as possible.
The other "costly" package is IBM's "ViaVoice" I havn't tried the microsoft one but if you are running win 2k or xp that sounds like the way to go. Unfortunatly the software isn't easy to write so no one is giving it away as freeware and in this case you get what you pay for as far as quality goes.
If you find a package that works, by all means let us know !

Well, I didn't know that my XP had it on there. I will have to give it a look. I have a friend that has "Access" to certain programs that are not exactly..................purchased, so to speak. So I have him looking for some things too.
