Well, my Airedale is much better today. Took her to the Vet's yesterday and he said it was just a muscle pull or strain. He gave (sold is a better word) this Metacam anti-inflammatory drug to give to her. That stuff worked wonders overnight !!
I think I'm going to call the Vet next week and see if would mind taking me on as a patient !! He gets results; my doctors don't do diddely for me, other than "lighten my wallet" ... lol ;D
My wife always wanted an Airedale and her "X" never would let her get one. Well, I get this call 7 years ago, and my wife found some reasonably priced Airedales. Keep in mind at the time, I didn't know "didely" about Airedales.
So, on Thanksgiving day (in the midst of Hunting Season) we go to pick out one. It was their first litter and they were expecting 6 or so pups, turns out they got 13 !! So, they weren't quite prepared and were letting them go at 1/2 price (we paid $200 vs the going rate of $400).
Well we got there (a quaint little place close next to Cootes Store, VA ... lol, love that name) and I tell the wife to pick one out. Well she does, and then one of the little girls comes up and says, oh no, please don't take that one, my birthday is in a couple of days and I'm going to ask for that one for my birthday present. Mean while, Nana comes over to me, crawls up in my arms and starts licking my face ... the rest is history.
Her mother was a "show dog" her dad was a "hunter", well Nana does look really good when she is hunting ... lmao ;D
Since then, I have learned a lot about Airedales, and if Nana goes before me, I will truely miss her, but I will go out the following day or so and get another Airedale. If I can get by with it, the next one will be called either Ike or Tina Turner ... lol ;D
Since I have gotten Nana, I have learned quite a bit about the breed and I will leave you folks who don't know anything about Airedales with this (here are some quotes that I got from John Henry from the coyotegods fame ... www.CoyoteGods.com
"The sport-loving men of the Valley of Aire wanted an all-around working terrier, and from the material at hand they molded him as skillfully as a potter molds his clay. The old Border terrier, with a thousand vermin-hunting ancestors behind him, was the Fountainhead of their breed. They wanted more jaw and bone and undoubtedly got it from the bull terrier. A love of water and the remarkable keenness of nose they secured by an infusion of the Otterhound, while the Greyhound and the Deerhound were always available for speed and lightness. It is not so much a matter of moment what these crosses may have been as what they have produced, and that is the most remarkable and useful dog that has ever attached itself to the fortunes of Man."
"An Airedale Terrier can do anything that any other dog can do, and then whip that dog if it has to."
About the King Oorang Airedale: King Oorang VII not only held titles in obedience, field, and water retrieving, but he treed lion and bear, hunted hogs, and was finally matched against a Champion American Staffordshire in the pits (which didn't have nearly the negative connotation then that it does today) and he flat-out killed it.

Nice to see an working Airedale, not many around these days. For me, Germanwirehairs turn my crank. I use them for what they where breed for (small game, upland, waterfowl, blood tracking), this past week my female retrieved a fox to hand that I had shot.
well, i don't have hunting dogs but i have dogs....the first is Hank...named after Hank Parker ....he is a cur mix...even though he loks kinda whimmpy in the pic...lol....scared of my brother and tall men...he's a pound puppy, he is the sweetest soul, he loves me so much , he's going to be a mess if a go before him...
then there's Johnathon(no pic)..John, he is a terrier mix, he's about 13-14 , his other mommy had cancer and i wanted a lil dog and when i went to look at him , all his stuff was there waiting to go home with me, i couldn't say no......brought his pillow inthe house and you wouldn't believe what happened next , all i am saying is he could walk after the ice water...lol.....and the pillow went in the garbage.....he's almost toothless and has bumps in him, but i still love him...then there is my pride and joy....Branddee May....she is my bloodhound....the love of my life..she just doesn't look like one, well she does, but small...paid for one , but...she has the nose , wrinkles, and the eyes and the bump on the top of her head , she's all liver/red colored with green eyes....she loves to trail....i trained her to blood trail and she is good, but i have never had the chance to do it in the woods on a wounded critter, but if she is available , i'll get her ...i hunt so far away and i rarely bring her up there with me....FHH and flhuntress went wandering off in the woods , i told her to find aunt neddie and she took off, i'm running behind her , telling her she's just running to run and then i see them, they ducked into the woods and we did too...right to them......she looks like a redbone i've been told...she had a rough start...the guy i bought her from decided he wanted to go get lunch before he made a shelter for the pups, when he came back , they were all dead but her..the sun got them..she hates heat to this day, but is getting better with time, she was the runt too.....not the best pic ofr the hound look she has but she does have one , lol ;Dif you look real close between the 2 leaves you can see drool....i love that girl
have a couple of cats, they are moreless just hanging around for the food....i like them and all but they don't want to be loved on, they want food....

I have a 10 Mo. old Brittany he's my first hunting dog I have done all the training he's doing pretty good he's started pointing and I don't know whos having more fun him or me. Yes he lives in the house sleeps on the bed and is spoiled rotten plus he's finding birds holding point and is pretty steadey to wing and shot . He's got GREAT Geans.
God made the Earth, the Sky & Water, Moon & Sun. He made Man & Bird & Beast. But he didn't make the Dog. He already had one.
Here's Dillon. He went over the Rainbow Bridge on October 18th 2000. He thought he was really cool, he was too! He liked to wear his sun glasses when he went out on a sunny day. He knew many commands and hand signals for all of them. He was as gental as could be unless he thought you were a threat to me. He was the worlds best cuddler too. He liked to sleep under the covers, pressed right up against me. It was really welcomed especially on cold nights.
