I'd like to know of some kind of battery warmed hip wader type 'boots' that a disabled woman could use during deer season. I'm assuming she has feeling enough below the waist to feel cold. Her hubby would like to bring her to our property to hunt deer, but she needs something she can wear while in a wheel chair. Not sure if I'm making myself clear enough. But if someone can figure out my disjointed post I'd appreciate your help.
I know of no battery operated heater. Therma Wrap makes heater pads that work like the chemical heat packets that alot of hunters and fisherman use. They come in different sizes and shapes to fit just about anywhere. Any drug store or pharmacy dept. should have them.
OKay, I can ask a bit more intelligently now...(maybe lol) I found out the woman has polio. So she does have feeling in her legs. From what she says it the size of her ankles and legs that make getting good fitted boots and such complicated (legs the size of a small small child, regular womans feet). Isn't there some type of hunting outfit that's almost like a bag on the bottom that you put your feet in but it has arms so you can be snug but still hunt?
The outfit I'd been thinking of was the exact opposite of what I'd described The legs were separated, arms in together. So wasn't what she needs. So suggested your idea Barreled Action. And told her to toss in the heat wraps you suggested Weasel. Told her to just get a sleeping bag, cut it waist high and snuggle up in that. Sounds like she's going to give it a try next deer season.
I guess the answer is to build a blind and put some heat into it.
If you watch enough hunting programs on TV, you would see those blinds that looks like a big pipe that has a door on one side where you crawl in and then you sit on chairs and look out the windows.
Another solution would be for a person to get one of those little 6 x 8 or larger trailers - like what they sell at Tractor Supply. Put sides and a roof on it and have a window on one or two sides and pull it out to where you want to hunt with a four wheeler and then put chairs and a heater inside of it and sit in it.
I don't think too many wheel chairs has four wheel drive, where you could take her any distance out into the woods, so one of these solutions would probably work best.
