.233 amo is much cheaper I believe.. The .223 and 22.250 may buck the wind better I think. But the average shot at a yote is not over 100-250 yds. I've known a few people who have dropped yotes at over 400yds with the .204..
I have the Savage model 12 in the Ruger .204 cal, its a great P-dog caliber and fox also. I personally like the idea of being able to shoot bigger bullets in the .204 for song dogs or yotes.
I have a .222 CZ rifle that is ok out to about 175 for yotes but still the .22-250 is the real deal for Mr. Coyote. If you wish to shoot farther than 300 yards, the .243 gets the nod or my 25/06 you betcah..........it's the hammer of Thor!!!
OK Gents! I have a Gun Club friend of mine who had a Savage Predator. This rifle MSRP'S for over $800 dollars new. It is in the caliber of a .223 and shoots .385-MOA with Hornady match bullets in the 53 grain using Varget powed.....velocity is 3150fps. The adjustable trigger is set at 1.5 pounds of pull gents.
I just purchased another new Savage rifle in a model 12, caliber is the 22-250. It is not fitted with scope yet and I have not shot the rifle as of yet. I'll let you fellows know how things turn out later.
Now I have a complete batter for next summers P-Dog shot out West. Those rifles are as follows: Savage .204 stainless with fluted heavy barrel, Savage Predator in .223 cal., Model 70 Winchester in .243, Ruger 25-06 heavy barrel. Now the wife shoots a CZ .223 and a CZ .222 Rem., She also has a .204 cal in a Savage model 12. I think we have enough rifles for this up coming hunt. It will give time for barrels to cool down some, as we jump from rifle to rifle in between strings of shots.
PS.......I ended up bringing that Savage Predator home with me as I could not pass up the deal, knowing how it shot at the rifle range. Good Hunting and MERRY CHRISTMAS TOO~!!!
