Well as much as I'm just a foul scout, I'm wondering, would strangely cold weather upset the turkey's mating habits, and decrease how vocal gobblers are? When I scouted last weekend it had just dropped back down to 40s and 50s from several weeks of 60s and 70s. It's still cold outside, I believe low 40s at the moment. I'm trying to ditch out on the last days of class tomorrow to make it downstate for the last 2 days of the turkey season to try to fill my tag. I'm wondering if this weather is going to play any role in my already slim chances of getting a bird. Any input?
drat... lucky birds... the highs will be in the high-60s/low-70s again i believe tomorrow and thursday, but lows in the 40s... it goes back up to the 70s solidly the day after spring turkey closes in illinois. i ought to leave a few claymores just out of spite.

We've been getting the cold mornings too. Gobbling has been odd though. One side of the road has 8-10 birds gobbling every morning and the other side has 1 or maybe two. This morning they didn't gobble on the one side until they had flown down.
I was wondering if the mid-30's we've been getting has gotten the hens to go sit on their nest?
One thing is for sure though. You can't kill them in class. I'm going just because I think after several mornings of the low temps they may get used to it and get back to acting normal. I want to be there when that happens.
