I am unaware of anything like what you ask. Are you interested in identifying individuals by the tone of their calls, similar to what is done with marine mammals? I don't think that wild turkeys have that much variation in the frequency or tone of their calls to distinguish individuals.
Im not sure what I want. What I'm looking for is info on recorded turkey sounds relating to the tones, pitches and frequencies.
Like voice analyzing, to be able to research, study and compair sounds of turkeys.
JW, I was told before on another forum about Mr. Williams. Although I have not contacted him as of yet, I have done a search and its appears his work was used for some books he wrote about turkeys.
But I have yet to find any avaible research or studies of turkeys sounds. No availible technical aspects like the actual pitch or frequencies of the sounds themselves. Im probly thinking way over my head, but I'll keep looking anyway.
Thank you both,

I know that some companies have done studies to see the variations of frequency of turkeys. The problem is that the same hen varies he own calls enough that identification on frequency alone is not very likely.
I sold a couple of calls to someone (I belive on this forum) that measured the frequency of the calls. I'll see if I can find out who it was and if they know anything else about the subject.
:)In the April issue of Turkey and Turkey Hunting magazine there is an interesting article on "Understanding the Acoustics of Turkey Calls". You might want to check it out. (or let me know and I may be able to fax it to you)
In Neil Cost's series of three books on making turkey calls -- Book Two has acoustic checks of the sounds of a wild turkey compared to Neil's calls. It tells where those checks were done and how they were done. It may help you with the information you need.
