Don't carry a deer on your back or any type of deer carrier WITHOUT wrapping orange around the deer and yourself. If you don't , someone could mistake it for a live deer moving through the woods and take a shot at it. Yes, there are still people out there that take pop shots at deer colored objects without making sure what they are looking at.....as we all know. But, I tote em out sometimes...so, maybe some of you do too....and, I'm just lookin out for ya.

good post april . i have done that befor in a corn field due to not how to get back to the deer . witch was a stupied idea but sounded like a hell of a idea at the time but later relized that it was one of the crazist thing i had ever done at that point . bow
Did it myself and my family and friends have done it. We'd cut the legs so they'd inter-lock and carry the deer like a backpack, with the head of the deer resting on our shoulder. Then.................................... I heard of a guy that got shot right in the head while doing that. Actually, one of our family friends witnessed it. He was sitting on a ridge watching this guy through binoculars when it happened. He was thinking to himself how much this looked like a deer moving through the brush when a shot rang out and the guys face exploded. Small world that this is, I met the shooter years later when I stopped to buy gas while out predator hunting. The attendant saw my guns and told me that he didn't hunt anymore because he had accidently shot another hunter on Frazier Mtn. When he told me the details and described the other guy (family friend) I knew it was the same instance. I drag, cut-up and backpack or transport by ATV now.
It took a similar incident for me to realize just what I was doing. I used to carry em like a backpack too....still do sometimes, but, now, I'm a walking orange glowstick...ain't a piece of deer stickin out.
