Okay, the term Coon, comes from Racoon? if so do people EAT this rodent type animal? I hear all the time the term Coon used in the south, and if it is hunted and not eaten why hunt if you wont utilize the meat? I dontn think I will eat this animal.

yes they carry rabies and there is a huge population of them over in Germany they actually get into people's homes thru the chimneys and rake havoc, there is one area of germany where they have borught in other dogs and well trained cats to go after them as hunters are just about fed up of shooting them, no matter what they are multiplying like field mice.
just for curiousity what did it taste like?

I think many of you would be surprised how tasty coon is.
Our favorite way to cook it is very simple.
Quarter up the coon just like any other small game, and put him in a roasting pan with a bottle or two of your favorite barbecue sauce. Cook him or her at 325 for about 2 hours, could be more or less depending on the age of your animal. Older coon need a little longer to tenderise.
