hey guys, i was talkin to a local guy who has a reloading business about .338 win mag reloads. he was telling me that molly bullets would be the best choice which i dont doubt but he followed up with something i found wierd. he said that after you clean your barrel out when shooting molly bullets that your bullets will be all over the board the next time you start shooting. he said that the more that ya shoot the tighter your group will get. he said that this is only with molly bullets. is that accurate info? i didnt know where to pos this but i figured that you reloaders would know best. thanks.
I shoot the moly coated bullet and found they shoot better after I cleaned the copper out of my barrel . Maybe he is talking about the moly coating that you apply in your tumbler that I don't use . I quit shooting it because of the mess
I have never loaded a moly coated bullet so I offer you this information just from my experience with conventional jacketed bullets! A clean bore always and I repeat always shoots better than one that is badly fouled! I say badly fouled because it has been my experience that a rifle bore needs at least one fouling shot after a thorough cleaning to really perform! I know some serious Bench Rest competitors who no longer shoot moly coated bullets and they do just fine in competition! I guess the best solution is to try moly coated bullets for yourself and see what your results are! FLATPICKER
molly bullets must lay down a coating in a clean barrel to get the optimum performance of the molly once this is accomplished accuracey becomes uniform and consistant.. that's why they produce molly bore prep to hasten the conditioning process..
